Hi there, dear fellow pluckers!
My name is Alon, I’m based in Germany but was born and raised in Beer-Sheba, the capital of the Negev desert, Southern Israel. I started playing the mandolin when I was 8 years old, and haven’t stopped since then.
I like to work in the early music field (also on period mandolins from the 18th and 19th centuries!) as much as I like collaborating with living composers or curating interdisciplinary art projects, ranging from folk music to avant-garde.
As a mandolinist, lutenist and conductor, I’ve gathered my know-how and polished my musical skills in several renowned institutes such as the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels, the University for Music and Media in Hannover, and the University of the Arts in Bremen.
Over a decade of touring has taken me to festivals like the Salzburg Biennale for New Music and the Early Music Festival in Utrecht. I’ve collaborated with numerous ensembles and orchestras, performed in halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie, Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, and Sala São Paulo in Brazil.
In the past years, I’ve produced several mandolin albums featuring music by Bach, Telemann, Beethoven, as well as world premieres of Israeli contemporary music by Paul Ben-Haim, Yehezkel Braun, or Gilad Hochman. Some of these recordings have received international prizes, for example, the OPUS KLASSIK (the Germany GRAMMY) and the Gouden Label (Belgian’s Golden Label).
I look forward to meeting you and exploring our instruments together!

Alon is an absolutely amazing musician and teacher. He is so precise in the things he points out musically, and yet also very understanding when I had wifi glitches and tech problems. I have so enjoyed the lessons I was able to have, and am excited in the future to work with Mr. Alon further!
