FAQ

1. Can I buy a gift certificate?

Yes, we do gift certificates! Please contact us through our Contact page and tell us more about the gift you would like to offer.

2. Are online lessons as good as in-person lessons?

Yes. Besides being more convenient for the student, online lessons can be just as beneficial as in-person lessons.

In fact, a significant study from the UNC has shown that students in online lessons are 36% less distracted and performed 22% better than in-person lessons.

According to the study, the activities that cannot be performed in online lessons such as touching, instructors marking students’ music, and pointing to specific places in the music occurred less than 1% of the time during face-to-face lessons.

This means that online lessons are not only 99% similar to in-person lessons but the students in online lessons do better.

3. How do online lessons work?

From your computer, phone, or tablet you can instantly connect with one of our expert teachers who will give you real-time feedback and coaching on your playing.

No more commuting. We conveniently bring musical experts from around the world to teach you from the comfort of your home.

All you need is an internet connection and a computer with a microphone and camera. All lessons will take place on Zoom. Please sign-up for a free account and download Zoom prior to your first lesson.

Unlike lessons in person, with one click you can easily record your lesson to review later. No need to take notes or worry about forgetting the valuable wisdom gained from your teacher.

6. Which teacher should I select?

Each teacher possesses their own unique personality, charm, and expertise in various musical styles.

We’d recommend selecting the teacher who specializes in the genre you’d like to study. You can also check out each teacher’s bio and introduction video to get a feel for their personality.

All of our teachers are selected and trained by Brandon Acker to guarantee each student receives the same core curriculum designed by Brandon.

If you need more help, simply submit a question through our Contact page and we will respond within 3 business days.

7. How do I pay for my lesson pack?

In each teacher’s bio, you’ll find their availability. Simply click on your preferred day (within the two upcoming weeks), then on your preferred lesson time, and you will be brought to a check out window. We accept Paypal or Credit Card.

If the lesson time you’ve selected is within 48h of the time of purchase, your first lesson will take place the following week. This gives our teachers the time to prepare your lesson.

Examples:

If on Monday at 5 pm you select a lesson slot of Thursdays at 5 pm, your first lesson will take place the same week.

However, if on Monday at 5 pm you select a lesson slot of Tuesdays at 5 pm, your first lesson will take place the following week.

8. Can I take lessons from Brandon Acker directly?

Brandon will be accepting applications for intermediate to advanced students who play classical guitar or early plucked instruments (baroque guitar, lute, theorbo, etc.)

Message through our Contact page to learn how to apply.

9. Can I take lessons only every two weeks?

By default, lessons take place every week. If you can not commit to weekly lessons, send us a message via our Contact page. Some of our teachers might be open to lessons every other week. If you already have a teacher in mind, let us know as well.

Feel free to send any questions or concerns through our Contact page.

13. Do you offer a free trial lesson?

While it is not free, because we trust the expertise of our teachers, you can indeed purchase one trial lesson to see if you get along with your instructor before signing up for a pack of lessons. However, after this trial lesson, to continue you must purchase a pack of either 4, 8 or 12 lessons. To make the purchase of a pack seem less intimidating, we also offer the ability for students to seamlessly switch between teachers even mid-pack in case they want to try a new teacher.

14. Can I buy just one lesson?

We do offer the ability for one trial lesson per teacher, however these lessons are not free because we believe in the value of our teacher's time and trust in their expertise. However, we understand that signing up can feel like a big commitment. To help you feel at ease, we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee or you will be refunded.

So if you change your mind after signing up, we can simply switch you to another teacher, provide credit you can use toward future masterclasses/workshops, or if you prefer, provide a refund for any unused lessons within 60 days of purchase for 4-packs, 120 days for 8-packs, and 180 days for 12-packs.

15. I am interested in signing up with a teacher but their schedule doesn't work with mine. What can I do?
