FAQ

1Can I buy a gift certificate?

Yes, we do gift certificates! Please contact us through our Contact page and tell us more about the gift you would like to offer.

2I am interested in signing up with a teacher but their schedule doesn't work with mine. What can I do?

Some of our teachers have a flexible schedule and may be able to add a time-slot just for you! Contact us and we’ll try to make it work.

3How do online lessons work?

From your computer, phone, or tablet you can instantly connect with one of our expert teachers who will give you real-time feedback and coaching on your playing.

No more commuting. We conveniently bring musical experts from around the world to teach you from the comfort of your home.

All you need is an internet connection and a computer with a microphone and camera. All lessons will take place on Zoom. Please sign-up for a free account and download Zoom prior to your first lesson.

Unlike lessons in person, with one click you can easily record your lesson to review later. No need to take notes or worry about forgetting the valuable wisdom gained from your teacher.

For more details, please click on our How It Works page.

4Are online lessons as good as in-person lessons?

Yes. Besides being more convenient for the student, online lessons can be just as beneficial as in-person lessons.

In fact, a significant study from the UNC has shown that students in online lessons are 36% less distracted and performed 22% better than in-person lessons.

According to the study, the activities that cannot be performed in online lessons such as touching, instructors marking students’ music, and pointing to specific places in the music occurred less than 1% of the time during face-to-face lessons.

This means that online lessons are not only 99% similar to in-person lessons but the students in online lessons do better.

5What is the cost?

Lessons start at $60/hour and purchased in packs of 4, 8, or 12 lessons at a time. Our 4 pack starts at $240.

All packs include:

– Discounts on masterclasses and workshops directed by Brandon Acker;

– Access to an online Arpeggiato community of Facebook;

– Weekly lessons from expert music instructors.

6Can I buy just one lesson?

We don’t offer single lessons at this time but you can buy a virtual “seat” for Brandon Acker’s online masterclasses and workshops.

Does going to the gym once make you healthy? In the same way, here at Arpeggiato we believe a proper music education can’t be gained from a single lesson. Each week, our students will receive new feedback from our experienced teachers, have the week to practice those ideas, and then come back the next week ready for more. It’s this type of education that will get you playing in ways you never imagined.

7What types of lessons can be found through Arpeggiato?

Arpeggiato is an online music school. We specialize in “All things that go pluck!”: learn guitar, lute, ukulele, bass, and choose among different styles including Classical, Fingerstyle, Rock, Pop, Tango, Early Music, and more!

8Which teacher should I select?

Each teacher possesses their own unique personality, charm, and expertise in various musical styles.

We’d recommend selecting the teacher who specializes in the genre you’d like to study. You can also check out each teacher’s bio and introduction video to get a feel for their personality.

All of our teachers are selected and trained by Brandon Acker to guarantee each student receives the same core curriculum designed by Brandon.

If you need more help, simply submit a question through our Contact page and we will respond within 3 business days.

9How do I pay for my lesson pack?

In each teacher’s bio, you’ll find their availability. Simply click on your preferred day (within the two upcoming weeks), then on your preferred lesson time, and you will be brought to a check out window. We accept Paypal or Credit Card.

If the lesson time you’ve selected is within 48h of the time of purchase, your first lesson will take place the following week. This gives our teachers the time to prepare your lesson.

Examples:

If on Monday at 5 pm you select a lesson slot of Thursdays at 5 pm, your first lesson will take place the same week.

However, if on Monday at 5 pm you select a lesson slot of Tuesdays at 5 pm, your first lesson will take place the following week.

10Can I take lessons from Brandon Acker directly?

Brandon will be accepting applications for intermediate to advanced students who play classical guitar or early plucked instruments (baroque guitar, lute, theorbo, etc.)

Message through our Contact page to learn how to apply.

11Can I take lessons only every two weeks?

By default, lessons take place every week. If you can not commit to weekly lessons, send us a message via our Contact page. Some of our teachers might be open to lessons every other week. If you already have a teacher in mind, let us know as well.

12Do you offer a free trial lesson?
