Knowledgeable, patient, and very interesting to talk to. I just started with him, but I feel confident that I’ll become a decent classical guitar player.

  2. subhajit.hysteria - June 21, 2021

  3. DanEberhardt - June 21, 2021

I enjoy working with Alec. He is great match for me because he has a calm, patient demeanor and I’m sure that I require a lot of patience! He is a very knowledgeable, skilled musician and teacher. I feel I have improved noticeably in a short time.

  4. heritagenoah - July 2, 2021

  5. saceves82 - July 14, 2021

I’ve absolutely enjoyed my time with Alec. He is very patient, kind, and really does his best to understand how to best approach someone like me. We also have really cool and interesting convo’s about teaching and learning music in school (since I am both a music teacher and student). I always look forward to my lessons with him.

Alec is such a great teacher with a keen eye on details. I was very surprised what nuances and inaccuracies in fingering he is able to catch in a web based setting. He was able to help me with complicated passages of Chopin pieces that i was struggling with for quite some time. His calm, interested, friendly and enormously professional way of teaching is definitely worth every second. Warmly recommended!

You would be missing a wonderful experience of eye-opening perspectives, insightful dialogues and stunning technical and philosophical breakthroughs to not work with Alec. He is a true master of his craft who will guide you through difficult learning processes with more grace than you could hope for from a teacher. Every critique of your work will also come with devoted praise for what you’ve been doing well, which always left me with the ability to see the progress I had made after a lesson. I ended every meeting feeling confident in myself and happy to have been there. Beyond the instrument, he offers great conversations, be it perspectives of composers or genres to guide you through the mindset of what you’re playing, or personal anecdotes that the student can relate to so they feel more confident on their musical path. Alec is someone you don’t want to let slide past your radar, work with him in great conscience!

  8. Karen Pautz - June 22, 2023

Alec is not only an accomplished musician, but also (and more importantly for me) a brilliant instructor. He’s developed a teaching system that’s progressive and creatively flexible – he has a number of solutions for any problem that I (a rank beginner) might run in to, so I never leave a lesson feeling hopeless or at a dead end. He’s a stickler for correct technique but is never abrasive in his corrections. He’s happy to discuss theory and the story behind a piece of music. He knows the challenges adult learners face, and can adapt to my variable practice opportunities. I’m so very happy to have found Alec through Arpeggiato, and the poor guy is stuck with me for the foreseeable future….!

  9. Juanleal08 - Feb. 24, 2024

Very good teacher. Great way of explaining things.

  10. drewtate - Nov. 7, 2024

I took lessons with Alec for the better part of a year. Not only did I wow everyone I know with my quick progress to relatively complicated guitar music, but I also learned to think about music in new ways. Alec is a brilliant guitarist and it doesn't end there—he is also a deep thinker with a true devotion to music. It's inspiring. I would recommend him to anyone.
